A bulletin from Winnipeg: Beware! The Eye of Mordor is watching!

As many workers in the delivery operation of Canada Post are aware, the Corporation has begun round two of restructures Modern Post style. Canada Post has not even completed rolling out Postal Transformation across the country and they are already back for more “efficiencies” in Winnipeg. They are in the process of amalgamating depots and cutting even more walks which in turn puts even more strain on some of our workers just to complete their daily duties on time and safely. Article 54 of the work contract and management’s duty to accomodate.

This week, the Sunday e-mail focuses its attention on the question of article 54 of the work contract and management`s “duty to accommodate” injured workers or workers with illnesses including mental illnesses as disability is one of the protected grounds of the Canadian Human Rights Act and no discrimination on this basis is allowed. ARBITRATOR KELLER ORDERS AN INDEPENDENT ERGONOMIC STUDY OF THE MULTI LINE OPTICAL CARACTER READER (MLOCR).

The current MLOCR’s at Canada Post have been installed in mail processing plants across the country as part of the corporation`s “Postal Transformation Initiative” to create a “modern post”, an investment of $2 billion, and are the latest generation of this type of machine. REFLEXIONS ON THE QUESTION OF THE FASCISATION OF OUR WORKPLACE WHICH BEGAN TAKING PLACE IN THE LATE 1970`S

Fascism is in essence the suppression by the state of the movement of the working class and broad masses of the people for its rights and the instituting of a dictatorship which rules over the above and forces everyone to surrender all the fruits of their labour to the bourgeois capitalist class.  Anti-communism is the hallmark of fascism.  It forcibly suppresses any opposition to its rule and considers socialists and trade-unionists to be its main enemy.
